Kept the solar, upgraded everything around it

The Molendinar homeowners came to Evolved Solar wanting battery storage, not a new solar system. The 10.45 kW array on the roof was doing its job — so after an on-site assessment we designed around keeping it.

Our crew replaced the earthing system and the DC cable run to the panels, bringing the installation up to current standards for battery integration, then commissioned a 32 kWh hybrid battery with a 10 kW inverter and 12 kW Gateway. A 12 kW DC EV charger went in at the same time, ready for whenever an electric vehicle arrives.

Bringing an existing array up to standard for a battery is electrical work, not panel work — the same licensed trade behind our switchboard upgrades. Every install is handled by our own licensed electricians, no subcontractors, and signed off to Australian Standards.

THE RESULT

Storage without starting over

Before the retrofit, everything the 10.45 kW array produced went into the house as it was generated or straight out to the grid. Now the surplus goes into 32 kWh of storage and comes back out in the evening, when the household is home and actually using it.

The earthing and DC cabling work also means the original array is properly compliant for battery integration — so the system can be expanded again later without revisiting the same electrical work. The 12 kW DC charger is already in place for whenever an electric vehicle arrives.
