Solar expansion, 32 kWh battery and full switchboard upgrade — Loganholme

A single-phase Loganholme home already had rooftop solar but no storage, and a switchboard that could not safely carry an upgrade. We expanded the array to 19.5 kW, added 32 kWh of battery capacity, and rebuilt the switchboard to support the lot.

At 19.5 kW, the array sits just under the 20 kW single-phase limit for the Energex network — about as much capacity as a single-phase property can carry.

Built to charge the car and run the house after dark

The Loganholme owners already had a 10 kW system on the roof but no way to store what it produced — and a new Tesla about to become the biggest load in the house. After an on-site assessment we designed around one goal: generate more, keep it on site, and move it into the car quickly.

Our crew added two more strings of Jinko panels to bring the array to 19.5 kW, rerouted the existing DC strings across to a new SIGENERGY system, and commissioned a 32 kWh hybrid battery alongside a 25 kW DC EV charger. A full switchboard upgrade brought the property up to current standards. At 19.5 kW the array now sits just under the 20 kW ceiling for single-phase connections in the Energex network — about as much generation as a single-phase home can carry.

Every install is handled by our own licensed electricians — no subcontractors — and signed off to Australian Standards.

THE RESULT

25 kW into the car, nothing from the grid

On a 25°C February morning the system was pushing 25 kW into the Tesla while the house ticked along on 0.68 kW. The roof was producing 7.7 kW and the battery covered the remaining 18.3 kW from a 76.9% charge — and the property was still exporting 0.32 kW back to the grid at the same time.

That is the whole point of the design. A DC charger this size would normally pull hard from the grid at exactly the wrong time of day. Here it runs on stored solar instead, so a fast charge costs the household nothing in imported power.

Between charges the battery runs on VPP scheduling, so the stored energy earns its keep rather than sitting idle.
