Solar, Battery & VPP — Pimpama
A 15 kW Jinko array and 40 kWh of storage on a high-set Pimpama roof — set up on a VPP so the battery earns its keep between charges.
THE SYSTEM
What we installed
A battery that earns while it waits
The Pimpama owners wanted more than a system that trimmed the daytime bill — they wanted the stored energy working for them around the clock. After an on-site assessment we designed a 15 kW array and 40 kWh of storage sized to what a family home actually uses.
Our crew installed the Jinko array across a high roofline, commissioned a 40 kWh hybrid battery behind a 30 kW SIGENERGY inverter, and set the whole system up under Gateway control. The household has since joined a VPP program, so surplus stored energy earns value rather than sitting full and idle.
The roof was the hard part on this one — a very high line that needed proper height access and a slower, more careful approach. Every install is handled by our own licensed electricians, no subcontractors, and signed off to Australian Standards.
THE PROJECT
THE RESULT
Stored energy that pays its way
A battery stops being purely a bill-reduction tool once it's on a virtual power plant. Surplus stored energy can be dispatched back to the grid when demand peaks and the household is paid for it — so the same battery is working during the hours it would otherwise sit full and idle.
For a family home with a 15 kW array and 40 kWh of storage, that gives the system two jobs: covering the household's own evening use, and earning from what's left over.
If you're weighing up whether storage stacks up financially, our guide to solar batteries on the Gold Coast covers the numbers worth looking at.
